Motor Vessel Nordkapp
Two cameras are mounted on the coastal steamer M/S Nordkapp, one pointing
aft on the port side, the other showing the view in
front of the ship. M/S
Nordkapp was built in 1996, and is one of the new generation of "Hurtigruten
coastal steamers" which travel up and down the Norwegian coast and follow a
tight schedule. The journey from Bergen to Kirkenes and back takes 11 days,
and the ship calls at 34 ports along the coast. This route has been in service
since 1893, and Hurtigruten now operates 10 vessels. The ships carry
cars, people, goods and mail, and can be the primary mode of
transportation during certain times of the year.
The Nordkapp updates its pictures every 20 minutes.
